چکیده
Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is an endogenous gaseous signalling molecule observing cardioprotective qualities in various experimental models. However, its therapeutic application limited due to rapid release vivo and potential toxicity. Controlled-release nanoparticles (NPs), such as polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) NPs entrapping H2S compounds may address these issues. PLGA NPs’ encapsulating sodium thiosulphate (STS), a donor, were prepared by emulsification sonication-solvent evaporation polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Sonication time was varied between 15 45 s PVA concentration 0.3 0.7% w/v. characterised, cellular uptake, generation encapsulated STS angiogenic explored. An increase sonication well decreased size resulting kinetics uptake over 24 h. Encapsulated gave controlled of h whereas non-encapsulated peaked at 2 Finally, we observed entrapped maintained pro-angiogenic potential. are promising controlled-release delivery system with offer sustained levels. Outcome after hydrogen sulphide intoxication.
AIM Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) intoxication in man is frequently associated with a fatal outcome. In small animal models hydrogen sulphide has demonstrated profound protection against hypoxia. No reports that focus on a potential protective effect in humans have been published. METHODS The frequency and outcome of a large cohort of hydrogen sulphide intoxications is described. RESULTS From 198...
متن کاملHydrogen sulphide production by bacteria.
Hydrogen sulphide production by growing cultures and non-multiplying suspensions was compared and the factors influencing the sensitivity of the tests were investigated. Cysteine hydrochloride (0.01 yo) was added to Lemco broth to provide a medium with a standard source of sulphur. H,S was detected with lead acetate papers more readily than by lead acetate agar. Suspensions were tested with cys...

Air emissions from waste treatment plants often consist of a combination of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and odors. Hydrogen sulfide is one of the major odorous gases present in the waste emissions coming from municipal wastewater treatment facilities. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is odorous, highly toxic and flammable. Exposure to lower concentrations can result in eye irritation, a sore throat...
متن کاملAn unrecognised form of hydrogen sulphide keratoconjunctivitis.
In 1988 six men were referred to St Paul's Eye Hospital after the onset of acutely painful, red eyes while at work at a local sausage casing factory. These patients prepared sheep intestine for sausage skin manufacture. Ocular examination showed bilateral blepharospasm, photophobia and lacrimation, intense conjunctival injection, and superficial punctate corneal erosions. There were no other ab...
متن کاملGaso-transmitter hydrogen sulphide: potential new target in pharmacotherapy.
Research in the last two decades has transformed the way hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is perceived from a noxious gas to a gaso-transmitter with a vast potential in pharmacotherapy. H2S is synthesized in various body-systems using the enzymes cystathionine beta-synthase and cystathionine gamma-lyase; either of these being the predominat enzyme in a particular system. H2S may be one of the physiologi...
